Propulsion system

Four  turbo-jet engines «Olympus» 593,  team-work of the  Rolls-Royce and SNECMA,  are placed by two in underwing gondolas, in a way that nozzle  cut off is in the  plane of the wing trailing edge.
Concorde augmented chamber is used to increase rod during take-off and at the moment aircraft is starting to fly at supersonic speed. Thrust reversal construction is designed in a way so it can provide braking force during loading at 45% of the take-off rod.
On the preseries Concorde 001 and Concorde 002 and also on the first serial Concordes  were used turbo-jet engines «Olympus» 593 Mk602, augmented rod 17260 kilogram-force. On the next aircrafts it was planned to use engines with augmented rod  increased to  18100  kilogram-force.
Concorde fuel system consists of 17 caisson fuel tanks, placed on the wing and in fuselage. Their capacity is 119786 l.
Fuel is also used to change   aircrafts centre of gravity position  at the moment Concorde is passing  sonic speed and to cool the aircraft. Four balancing tanks are used for this – placed in the front  close to the  fuselage parts of the wing with maximum sweep – and one tank in the tail-end of the aircraft (behind the wing trailing edge).
